Our original musicians for this date, David Starr and Ellen Stapenhorst, had to cancel, as David just had some emergency surgery. Thankfully, he is now doing well, but will need more than a few weeks for a complete recovery. He and Ellen will still perform for us, but in 2019, so keep checking the website for their new date.

Fortunately for us, two more of our favorite musicians have generously agreed to fill this date. We are so lucky to be able to offer their talents on such short notice, so sincerely hope that many of you will make an extra effort to attend this particular concert and show your support.

So now, closing out the 2018 season will be the powerhouse duo of Mollie O’Brien and Rich Moore. This will be their second time with Pink House, and we couldn’t be happier that they are returning to grace us with their fantastic music. We have loved them and their musical family (Mollie and Rich’s two daughters Brigid and Lucy, and Mollie’s award-winning brother Tim O’Brien) for many years, and we are so fortunate that they are located right here in Colorado and were kind enough to help us out in a pinch.

Grammy winner Mollie has long been known as a singer who doesn’t recognize a lot of musical boundaries, and audiences love her fluid ability to make herself at home in any genre while never sacrificing the essence of the song she tackles. She is a singer at the very top of her game who’s not afraid to take risks both vocally and in the material she chooses.

Rich, while known to produce some of the funniest onstage running commentary, is also a powerhouse guitar player who can keep up with O’Brien’s twists and turns from blues to traditional folk to jazz to rock and roll. He creates a band with just his guitar and, as a result, theirs is an equal partnership.

Together, Mollie and Rich are national and international performers you won’t want to miss. Larry Groce, Artistic Director and Host of the famed NPR music program Mountain Stage, described them this way:

“An Incredible Singer and Fantastic Guitarist performing some of the Best Songs you’ll ever hear in one show…there’s the quote for the poster. Now, let me explain. Mollie O’Brien first performed on Mountain Stage in 1985, our second year. She was the best singer we had ever had on the show. She kept coming back and now, 27 years later, she’s still one of the top three best singers ever to perform on the show and I can’t think of the other two at the moment. Keep in mind, we have had over 1,800 guests on Mountain Stage. She can sing contemporary and traditional folk music, country, bluegrass, jazz, gospel, blues and pop but she’s not a jack of all trades. She’s a master of many styles. Since she and Rich have been performing together regularly – he finally quit his day job – they are impossible to beat as an acoustic duo. They have impeccable taste and choose the most entertaining, interesting and inspiring material from the wide world of song. And they’re funny. I urge you to see them if you get the chance and make your friends come with you (they will effusively thank you later).”
